My new favourite toy. I got it just before my birthday on a long-awaited contract upgrade. And yes, I did get my nails painted to match it on my actual birthday. I like pretty colours. And matching. It's just plain fun. And I like the new Tasha's at Rosebank, while we're talking about things I like. And yummy birthday lunches with my man.
But back to the blog post (I promise I'm done listing things I like!). One thing my Purpleberry is good for, is taking sneaking little pics at moments when you really wish you had a camera. Like these ones:
Johannesburg. Thursday afternoon. Driving home from town after just wrapping up set on a fashion shoot. We saw every kind of weather possible that day, which usually leads to good photo-taking opportunities. The day started cold, then we boiled our little bums off, then the clouds rolled in...and it poured. We all snuggled up under the gazebo, and waited for someone to call it a day. But no need, the skies cleared, the shoot went on, and I got to take this pic as I drove home.
Night shoot. A couple of weeks ago. Brand new All Stars.
Location Recce. Braamfontein. Look how beautiful my city is.
Saturday shopping trip. Old Khaki, my new favourite shop for basics, and one-of-a-kind design pieces. I spotted this old-school sewing machine in amongst the clothes, beautiful.

Friday Afternoon in the Big City
What could be better? Friday afternoon and the call of Wolves' Red Velvet Cupcakes is strong. So a quick visit for a quick tasty treat and quick bottle of lemonade. Mmm...a delightful Friday.

Boyfriends and Dead Grannies.
Some guys are the best. And mine is pretty close to being just darn amazing. Especially when he went for a treasure hunt at his dead gran's house. OK, it sounds pretty morbid, but it happens. His gran passed away last year, and it was a very sad event. But once all the memorials and funerals and family lunches and services have passed, and the gruesome task of dividing up the remaining assets has all been dealt with, it comes down to the nitty gritty, like who gets the pressure cooker, the TV, and the ceramic crocodile.
So, he spent a morning with his family at his gran's house, making lists and dividing up the mementos and objects that make up a person's life, just as we had done with my gran a few years before.
My memory is mostly of one Christmas, when we gathered with a few relatives, and the four females (my mom, aunt, myself and my cousin) each had a turn to choose a piece of jewellery. We went around the circle until all was spent, and each walked away with a little hoard of sometimes beautiful, sometimes broken, sometimes valuable, sometimes not, jewels. No matter the value to us, they had all once meant something to my gran.
And just today I found my own treasured jewellery collection, that I'd stopped wearing, and had packed away as I'd exited my teens. Sometimes things are good to pack away, and bring out later. I'd missed these treasured pieces.
But anyway, I've diverted. We were talking about Wonderboy. He returned from aforementioned treasure hunt with many treasures for me. Being a great lover of all things vintage, I covert gorgeous grabs from the olden days. And I was treated to the greatest - silky silken scarfs, minature clutch bags, and gemmed necklaces. Bliss.

Just What The Doctor Ordered
Yes please. One day my creative space will look like this. It's on its way. Slowly bit by bit (especially since I did all my manic cleaning the other day). But isn't this just beautiful. Sit back...enjoy...bliss...
Creating Creativity
I've spent the last couple of weeks in and out of my studio (which used to be my cottage bedroom at my parents' house, but has been adapted into a studio space since I moved in with my man), sorting and cleaning and organising. I do so love putting things in boxes - my brain thrives on it. I recycled bags and bags of rubbish (my parents' house is very 'green'), and it was an entirely cathartic experience getting rid of so much junk.
But now that's its all nicely organised, I've started creating little new things for the sales coming up in the next few weeks! A little bit of glue, a feather here and there, a bit of thread, and a few homemade buttons, and we're off...
Pretty little hairclips and brooches to brighten up your day as autumn rushes towards us! Made from scratch, with a whole lotta love...

Fashion. Frenzy. Fun.
Sunday morning. Who really wants to get out of bed? We didn't. Not for a good long time. But there was this feeling...this gnawing, nagging feeling. Accompanied by a million friends' facebook status' blagging about the awesome time they were having at 'Market on Main'. FOMO struck. Plus the feeling that it was in my diary, and can the diary be refused? Really.
Sjoeg, it was fun. And obviously the place to be seen on a Sunday. *All* the trendy kids were there...plus a rent-a-crowd of trendy kids from Cape Town (hehe, thanks James). Next Sunday we'll be back, a little earlier, to spend a little more time looking at the super pretty clothes, and buying the organic veggies.
After finishing our drinks while admiring the view from the Arts on Main balcony, we took a little stroll down to Main Street Life. And gosh, is it looking pretty down there or what? That roof promises some serious parties. Any day now...
We dragged ourselves up, into the shower, and out the door. And what a wonderful time we had. Besides from arriving a tad late and missing a bit of the fun (and therefore developing a wierd tic because of FOMO), and getting a little lost in the blur of brand new experiences, we still managed to grab some food, peruse the stores, and sit in the grassy area around Canteen. We even found a mini-staircase to sit on to really get into our boerie rolls. Deeelish.
